I love makeup, and I’m pretty good at applying it too. After I had my child, I tried everything I could to cut corners and save some money. Spending $200 at the drop of a hat on makeup was no longer an option. Did I mention I LOVE MAKEUP? My point is, down grading my makeup selection was a sacrifice I was not super excited to make, but I just couldn’t wrap my brain around spending $45 on foundation either. Not when I have a child I have to provide for (do you know how many diapers $45 can buy!?!?!). So I’ve looked long and hard to find makeup that was friendly to my wallet but still worked. After many (when I say many, I mean TONS) trials and let downs, I found less expensive makeup that I am just as satisfied with.
Here’s my picks:
Revlon 24 Hour Colorstay is awesome! It’s got great coverage and the best part (if you ask me) is it has a matte finish which keeps that wet oily look off your face. Normally my face looks like I just got done with a killer work out after 4 or 5 hours after application. That is no longer an issue with this foundation. Wanna know the other best part? This foundation only costs $10.99 at Target!!
I like a couple different kinds. I like Revlon PhotoReady (the one that looks like a tube of lipstick) this is around $9.00
Also, Mayballine’s Instant Age Rewind. This concealer not only conceals, but it helps prevent fine lines, dark circles, and can be used right over your makeup for those mid day/early evening touch ups. Just keep one in your purse and bust that bad boy out when you feel like you are looking a little tired. Brightens you right up. This product is wonderful and it costs around $9.00.
For this, I like Revlon ColorStay Translucent Powder. It brightens and with the right brush will not clump or look blotchy. This product will run you around $11.00.
I like Physicians Formula Mineral bronzer and blush. I like this brand because the mineral blush stays on longer. I hate when my bronzer and blush seem to rub off throughout the day. I feel like I look ill or something. I also use this bronzer for contouring. This product runs around $11.00 each.
I’m going to be honest here. Haven’t tried any drug store eye makeup yet. I have so many shadows I’ve collected that I haven’t had to buy any cheeper brands. Also, I can buy a pallet like Urban Decay’s Naked 2 with something like 10 shadows in it for $50. Eye shadows last forever so I don’t feel SO bad splurging on them. Some of my favorite eye shadow brands are Two Faced, Urban Decay, Mac, and Motives Cosmetics. I usually buy pallets, like I said before, because you get so many different shadows in one compact for what I think is a fairly descent price for the amount you get.
First pallet is Urban Decay’s Naked 2 pallet, the second pallet is Urban Decay’s Vice Pallet.
I go real inexpensive with my eye liner. I use elf’s black liquid eye liner. It goes on smooth, the brush is thin and flexible, giving me the ability of a variety of looks. I can make the line as thin or as thick as I want, and it’s only a dollar! That’s right a dollar!!
I just found L’oreal’s Butterfly lash. The brush is shaped so it can get in the inner corner where some lashes never get hit. It’s like a little comb. It doesn’t clump and flake off (unless you pick at it) I don’t like spending a tone of money on mascara because it drys out so quickly. In like 4 or 5 weeks you need another tube regardless of how much you spend. This product costs around $8.00
I don’t like glossy lips, I don’t like dry looking lips either. I usually go for a matte lipstick because it lasts longer. Here are my matte lipstick picks.
NYX has some great matte lipsticks and matte long lasting lip gloss. I love this line of lipstick!!! They average around $5 each.
Don’t forget to. Remove your makeup at the end of everyday. It’s best for your skin and helps to keep your skin youthful. I hope you go out and try some of these brands and save some money!!!
