I know, I know! I’ve heard it all! But, Its so dangerous! But, Isn’t that illegal? What about all the formaldehyde? Aren’t you afraid of getting sick?
I hear your concerns and I understand you have fears. Let me put these to rest once and for all.
First off, Lets just talk about the service. This is a defrizzing and smoothing treatment. It gives the hair great shine and makes the shaft stronger.
If you have unruly hair that takes forever to flatiron, lacks luster, and splits easily, or you spend more time on your hair then anything else you do in the morning, including getting the kids up and off to school or daycare, then the Brazilian Blowout is exactly what you need in your life. The Brazilian Blowout coats each individual strand of hair blocking out any humidity and keeps your hair smooth on those humid days making your styles last much longer.
Now, Lets get to all of these concerns about the use of formaldehyde. First off, formaldehyde is the most hypoallergenic preservative out there. Its in anything that will keep for a long time that should decompose/break down. Like, If you have leather seats in your car, guess what, as weird as it may be to think of, you are sitting on something’s skin. In order to keep your seats from decomposing they get treated with formaldehyde.
Or those pretty polished nails you have, guess what’s in that? You know it, formaldehyde! or your lovely mascara that makes your eyes stand out and gives your makeup the finished POP it needs. All these products have trace amounts in them, and OSHA along with the FDA say the amounts within these products including Brazilian Blowout are considered safe.
When Brazilian Blowout first came out, I believe it did have formaldehyde in it. After all the bad publicity the company changed the formula. The company will tell you they didn’t, but trust me, they did.
I will say, I do think the company messed up it a couple ways.
First they told you and me that it didn’t have formaldehyde in it when I know it did. So, they lied about it. The only difference between Brazilian Blowout and all the other keratin treatments out there, is that the others where upfront about it. And shame on Brazilian Blowout for not saying so in the first place! Second thing they got wrong was certifying hairstylists online. I’m sorry, but I saved my money, made an investment in my business and flew my happy ass out to L.A. and learned hands on, in person with the people who came up with the stuff. I think it was bad form on Brazilian Blowouts part to certify online like that. There is only so much you can learn from a 9 minute video on YouTube. Bad form Brazilian Blowout! Bad form.
Now having said all that, this stuff works!!!! Here are some before and after’s of Brazilian Blowouts I’ve done. Something I want you to keep in mind: In the after pictures these clients have not been hit with a flatiron. What you see is all roughdrying with a blow dryer and my hand, and maybe a little bit of a vent brush at the very end.
